The Access Team is the first contact for requesting mental health services. They determine the level of need for mental health services, provide assessment, linkage, and information and referral for mental health services for children, youth, and adults.

Referrals are made to community providers or Behavioral Health treatment teams.

What to expect when you call 988

  • Initial Greeting - When you call 988, you’ll be greeted by an automated message that offers you options, including whether you prefer assistance in English or Spanish.

  • Routing to a Local Center - Your call is then routed to the nearest crisis center in the 988 network based on your area code, connecting you to a trained counselor who understands your local resources.

  • Connect with a Counselor - A trained crisis counselor will listen to your concerns, offer emotional support, and help you navigate your feelings and thoughts.

  • Follow-Up and Resources - If necessary, the counselor may connect you to local services, provide follow-up calls, or refer you to other resources for ongoing support.
