The first rains have awakened some early bloomers among the local wildflowers - we already have a few California Poppies shining forth with their vivid orange blossoms. These are part of the legacy of Vesta Copestakes, the retired publisher of this very paper. She used to send a packet of the seeds to each local writer and it’s from those seeds that our early Calpops are growing. Need seeds? Let me know!

With our County of Sonoma closed until at least January 9th, thinking hyper-locally becomes a necessary part of everyday living. A bit of colder, wetter weather is also enhancing our need to stay in.
